The Probus organisation was started in 1965 by the Rotary Club of Welwyn Garden City.

The title is an abbreviation of PROfessional and BUSiness. Clubs were originally for men retired or semi-retired from these areas of occupation. Our Club was founded in 1982 and has a membership of 50 as of May 2022. We do not require our members to be from the Professional and Business background. PROBUS is not a fundraising organisation but concentrates on social gatherings at regular intervals. It is non-sectarian and non-political. Our meetings take place throughout the year on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. There is an annual fee of £40
